The life of Frances
Raised in a multicultural home, Frances' life story is a rich tapestry woven with cultural heritages and experiences. Her Cuban mother's harrowing journey from Cuba and her Italian-American upbringing in Pennsylvania, where she was deeply influenced by her grandmother's Catholic faith and service to others, shaped Frances' early years. From witnessing her Cuban grandmother's devotion to serving the elderly, to her enchanting experiences at Camp Auxilium with rollerskating and rosary meditation, Frances' childhood was marked by diverse and profound experiences.
Her educational journey took her to Fairleigh Dickinson University, NJ, where she delved into sociology, opening doors to worldwide friendships and travels to Egypt and Bahrain. Here, she also discovered yoga, though remained wary of its controversies. Frances' career path led her to special education, with a focus on autism, inspired by figures like Temple Grandin. She graduated with an MA in Special Education in 1999, and soon after, a personal loss led her to Maui.
In Maui, Frances embraced the Aloha spirit, which profoundly changed her life. She dedicated herself to teaching students with severe disabilities and limited language. Her journey took her to Honolulu, where she taught preschool special education, but soon grew disillusioned with the educational system. Seeking a new path, she used her culinary skills to open a small café while completing personal development courses.
Frances' story came full circle as she returned to Maui and rediscovered yoga at Wisdom Flow with Jennifer Lynn, finding her spiritual path. She completed her yoga teacher training in 2017, embodying Yogi Bhajan's philosophy: “Make yourself so happy, that by looking at you, other people become happy.”
